Bulgaria Slashes Renewable Energy Support

GALWAY, IRELAND--July 11, 2012 --Written by Martin Lynch, European News Editor for Industrial Info (Galway, Ireland) Bulgaria's government has slashed the subsidies for renewable power projects in a move that could threaten future investment in the region.

The energy regulator has announced a 50% cut in the feed-in-tariff (FiT) for solar power projects and a 22% cut for wind projects, claiming that they are necessary to prevent soaring electricity prices.
