Middle East-North Africa Sees Spate of Solar Projects and Ambitious Targets

JOHANNESBURG--June 6, 2012--Written by Richard Finlayson, Senior International Editor for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Initiatives for renewable energy projects in the Middle East-North Africa (MENA) region are increasing in frequency by the month. Egypt is the latest country to announce major plans, with a solar power plan to harness the country's major solar energy sources by using photovoltaic and concentrated solar sources. The plan would last to 2027. Two-thirds of the country's total area has a solar intensity of more than 6.4 kilowatt hours per square meter (kWh/m2).
