BPCL's Numaligarh Refinery to Resume Operation by End of May 2012

DELHI--May 25, 2012--Researched by Industrial Info Resources India (Delhi, India)--State-owned Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited's (BSE:500547) (BPCL) (New Delhi, India) 60,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Numaligarh Refinery in Numaligarh, Assam, is expected to be back in operation by the end of May 2012. The refinery, which is operated by Numaligarh Refinery Limited--a joint venture enterprise of BPCL, Oil India Limited (BSE:533106) (Noida, Uttar Pradesh) and the government of Assam--was taken to an emergency shutdown after a fire broke out at its 22,200-BBL/d hydrocracker plant on April 7, 2012. A hydrogen leakage has been reported to have caused the fire breakout in the cracker unit.
