Sinopec Joins PetroSA on $10 Billion Mthombo Refinery Project Assessment
JOHANNESBURG--May 24, 2012--Written by Richard Finlayson, Senior International Editor for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--South Africa's state-owned refining company, PetroSA (Cape Town), and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (NYSE:SNP) (Sinopec) (Beijing, China) have signed a joint study agreement to share the $190 million cost of drawing up a blueprint for the Project Mthombo oil refinery project at the Coega industrial development zone, just north of the metropolitan city area of Port Elizabeth, on the country's Indian Ocean coast.
